Jewellery Care
Keep your jewellery looking its best and help it live a long life!
Always put your jewellery on last. That means after any lotions or potions! They can gunk up your piece or cause discolouration. DO NOT wear your jewellery to the spa, pool, beach or gym. Sweat, sunscreen, chlorine, cleaning products, salt, sand and more can damage your jewellery.
Cleaning:
Most jewellery can benefit from an occasional mild dish detergent (dawn, sunlight, etc) and warm water cleanup. This helps remove oils and residue. If it's still looking grubby after that you might need some extra help.
Sterling Silver: For your silver we recommend a polishing cloth! If that's not enough you can make a paste with baking soda and water to remove tough tarnish. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
Brass: For brass and bronze pieces you can use a polishing cloth as well. For intricate pieces warm up a small bowl of vinegar in the microwave (just a few seconds!). Dip your piece in for a few minutes, then clean with mild soap with water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
Gold Plated: Be gentle! Plated jewellery will wear down over time. No abrasives for these. Just soap and water.
Gold Filled: Gold filled pieces are different from gold plate. It's a much thicker layer of gold and will not wear off. That said, these pieces are much less likely to tarnish. Simple soap and water should be fine.
We DO NOT recommend jewellery dips or chemical cleaners.
